Becoming a stepmother can be an overwhelming, challenging transition that requires a fair amount of patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor! But with time, being a stepmom can become a deeply rewarding, loving, and meaningful experience. This group is designed to support stepmothers at any stage of their journey, married or partnered, all are welcome to gain support, build skills, and experience camaraderie.
Group Therapist
Reyna Kahan, LCSW, is a psychotherapist based in New York City, specializing in individual and couples therapy. With expertise in early trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship dynamics, Reyna helps clients explore how early childhood experiences influence their adult lives and close relationships. Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, she works to untangle deeply ingrained patterns and foster healthier, more adaptive responses.
Reyna has a particular focus on women's mental health, including PMDD, as well as life transitions such as peri-menopause and menopause. She also supports parents and stepparents in navigating the unique challenges of blended family dynamics.
She practices Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an experiential model that helps clients process overwhelming emotions related to trauma while reducing shame and feelings of aloneness. By creating a safe and supportive space, Reyna empowers individuals to operate from a place that feels true, authentic and connected.
Reyna’s deep passion for her work influences her practice every day. She believes that positive change is possible for everyone and focuses not only on life’s challenges but also on its strengths and moments of resilience.
