Description
Hi, I'm Aly. I am a mom of 3 and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in Eating Disorders. After having my first child, I really wanted to create a group for moms to come and process their experience in their bodies in motherhood. I became so aware of all the focus on mom's bodies and pressures not only on a mom's body but also how mom's eat and feed their children. I am grateful for my career and working in a anti-diet space that allowed me to stay fairly grounded throughout my pregnancy and postpartum but I have still been disheartened with the amount of stressful messages mainly targeting mothers around their bodies and food. I wanted to create a space for mothers to honor the amazing transition of a mother's body while also holding space to grieve the loss of their past identity. Fast forward a few years, life got a little more chaotic with a set of twins and here we are years later, I am still feeling the pull to create a space for moms were they can be real and explore their relationship with their body and food.
Not only is it important for moms to feel secure in themselves but we also have a powerful role in helping build body positive kids. The more we have a positive relationship with our body and food the more we enable our kids to also have a positive relationship with their body and food.
Who should join? Any moms (or those that identify as a mother) who feel they can benefit from creating a more peaceful relationship with food and their body. Maybe you have a history of an eating disorder or have struggled with a pattern of dieting, maybe your body has just changed which has increased your discomfort in your body? Then this space may be for you.
The goal of this space is not to become perfect mother's or to promise that you will have mothering all figured out by the end of the 8 week. The goal is to help create a more whole, authentic space for moms.
Register before September 5th, 2023. First Group starts Tuesday, September 12th at 10am.
