Women Understanding Trauma

Description

The Women Understanding Trauma group provides a safe and welcoming space to have questions answered by a trauma-informed therapist, Dr. Teona Amble, with over 13 years of experience in helping women recover from trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect, narcissistic relationships, military experiences, sexual assault, and acts of violence. Each woman's story matters and deserves a place to feel seen and heard. Every woman deserves access to recovery tools and support from a community and an expert in trauma recovery.

This group is appropriate for women with a history of trauma and diagnosis of PTSD who are looking to begin their recovery journey or need a refresher on tools to cope with PTSD. The Women's Understanding Trauma Group is the first in a series of trauma-focused recovery groups offered by Dr. Teona. After completion of this group, you can continue with the next group series, Women Recovering from Trauma.

Each weekly session will provide an psychoeducation on PTSD and a foundation on coping tools to address different types of symptoms, including sleep disturbance, mood swings, avoidance of people and places, and intrusive thoughts and memories. Here is a sample agenda for the group topics:

Week 1- Understanding How PTSD Develops

Week 2- Understanding Sleep and PTSD

Week 3- Understanding Mood and PTSD

Week 4- Understanding Thoughts and PTSD

Week 5- Moving Forward from PTSD

In each session, you will be joined by fellow adult women with a similar history of trauma and seeking ways to recovery from their PTSD symptoms. You will leave each session with benefits of tools to apply in your daily lives and the support of fellow women who are experiencing similar challenges.

The group will meet four times a year, with a new series starting every quarter. We wait to start until at least five women are signed up for the group as this is important to get the full group experience and support. The maximum number of clients in each group is ten women to ensure that there is adequate time and space for each person. Dr. Amble will notify you as soon as this number is met, and it is time to start your group experience. You can join the group as late as the second session.

You will access all session materials and links to the video group from your private and secure client portal. Dr. Amble will send you reminders for group attendance and ways to communicate with your fellow group members between sessions if desired.

Before starting the group, intake forms and consultation with Dr. Amble is required to determine if you are a good match. Intake and confidentiality forms will be sent to you electronically and can be completed online prior to scheduling consultation with Dr. Amble. You will also be asked to agree to the group therapy rules, policies, and procedures. Consultation fee is applied to the group therapy rates if you sign up. Please message Dr. Teona through Zencare to schedule your consultation for the group or click the link in her phone consultation calendar.

You can receive a discount of $15.00 per session by pre-paying for the entire series, all five sessions, at the start. The cost for the entire group series is $475.00 if paid upfront. Please talk with Dr. Teona about this option.
