We all need help sometimes. Relationships, career, family, money, health, sex—each aspect of our lives is built from our histories (what we bring with us from the past) and our habits (how we respond in the moment). Therapy is a place to take a deeper look at ourselves, and turn over all the puzzle pieces to discover how they fit to make a picture. Being aware of what shapes behaviors and responses can give us leverage to make choices that bring more joy, satisfaction, and energy.

Finding the right therapist is like dating. It can take a few tries to get the right fit. With the right therapist your life can be transformed because you have someone who can provide support and guidance as you go. I act like your personal cheerleader encouraging you to adopt healthy patterns and try to avoid destructive ones.
I help people who are struggling with a variety of personal, work and school issues like stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I also help clients who are grieving, going though a difficult time, have parenting questions, communication problems, or dealing with infidelity and/or divorce. I try to understand my clients' current challenges and examine their patterns of behavior and thinking that led them to their current situation. Together we look at family patterns and environmental factors to determine their best next steps to feel better. I incorporate mind-body suggestions if the client is open to that.

Are you having trouble falling or staying asleep? Are you replaying painful memories in your head, unable to get past troubling thoughts? If you or your adolescent have tried everything to get better sleep, get rid of negative thoughts and anxiety, I can help using evidence-based techniques like EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) and CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). In my practice, I help teenagers and adults work through depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic illness and problems sleeping.
If you have a busy schedule, working on yourself gets put off for months or even years. You may even feel like you are not worth prioritizing. Reaching out to a therapist can be difficult, but it is the first step toward getting better. Please contact me for a free phone consultation to determine if we will be a good fit.

Hello, I am a Harvard trained practitioner and Board Certified Coach with more than 30 years experience helping people to make their dreams come true. In our work together we would define where you want to go in your life, and how you will get there, with a special emphasis on what's in the way. You may work on one or more parts of your life. Since 'You are You' wherever you may go, you may find that gains you make in one part of your life can significantly improve other parts too. You will decide which part(s) of your life you want to work on. These may include: Work, Play, Family, Friends, Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Money, Romance...
From me you may expect neutrality consistent with my perspective that you are the best person to be in charge of your life. And, you may expect some warmth and humor, as 'I am I' wherever I may go too. I look forward to hearing from you.

There’s almost always more than one way to solve a problem or address an issue in your life. But which approach is right for you? I specialize in answering that question -- looking at the challenge or obstacle you’re facing from several different angles. Maybe you feel stuck, or anxious, or have something that you just keep doing, and that thing has become the obstacle. My job is to listen and suggest ways to address that obstacle, and allow you to return to your natural state of mental well-being.

People come for therapy when they are hurting or feeling stuck in unproductive thinking and behavior. Therapy can be a refuge for you to work through conflict, unpack painful experiences, and ultimately gain more understanding of yourself. It is a way of discovering truth and layers of meaning together with someone who offers support, respect, and an unbiased perspective. We will take a collaborative approach to help you identify patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are creating personal challenges. It can be confusing when we find ourselves in situations that seem to make little sense or are preventing us from feeling content. Often these are automatic responses that feel familiar but no longer work for us. We will explore what causes your suffering and what can alleviate your suffering.
Mindfulness based psychotherapy emphasizes and cultivates the capacity to see clearly what is arising in any moment and greet experience with wisdom and utmost compassion. So often there is clinging to an idea of wanting things to be a certain way or avoid what hurts. In this way there is a tendency to add on to the suffering with judgments and self limiting beliefs. Mindfulness can allow for an understanding that transformation comes from changing our relationship to what's happening – rather than trying to change what's happening. In this therapeutic process you can courageously cultivate a willingness to be open to the ephemeral nature of experience with honesty, patience, compassion and lovingkindness. This involves letting go of preconceptions, filters, projections and tendency to not live fully. What is often needed is a safe environment to cultivate acceptance and the willingness to honestly explore the truth of what is unfolding within yourself and the uncertainties of life.
