Professional statement

Dr. Bradley Miller is a Columbia-trained and affiliated adult psychiatrist and neuroscientist who specializes in talk therapy and medication management for individuals with depression and anxiety. He particularly enjoys supporting college and graduate students, young professionals, and artists as they navigate academic and career stressors. He also has extensive expertise seeing patients with bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and adult ADHD. Working in a comfortable setting on the Upper West Side, he maintains a small private practice that allows him to devote a high level of attention to each individual. As an expert in both medications and talk therapy, he can tailor the treatment to your needs. He also provides consultations for people who would like a second opinion on their current treatment.

Dr. Miller uses an evidenced-based approach to both medication management and psychotherapy. He works collaboratively with patients to develop the best treatment plan. When medications are indicated, he monitors treatment response and side effects carefully to get maximal benefit. In psychotherapy, he works with patients using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to understand the sources of their difficulties, and to develop tools to reframe their thoughts and promote more effective and healthy behaviors. He also recognizes that some clients benefit from other treatment approaches, including mindfulness, interpersonal therapy, and supportive therapy.

Dr. Miller is committed to helping improve the lives of his patients and advancing psychiatric care. When he is not in sessions, he works as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University where he conducts research into the biology of anxiety and depression and trains psychiatry residents.

Message to clients

I am a psychiatrist and neuroscientist who provides evidence-based treatments to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and a range of other emotional difficulties. Our first meeting starts with an in-depth evaluation with two goals. First, we define your current symptoms to develop an accurate diagnosis. Second, we take a broader view to understand where you may be stuck in your personal, relational, or professional growth. With this in mind, we develop a treatment plan collaboratively. This may include medications, talk therapy, or a combination of the two.
In addition to my clinical work, I conduct research and train residents at Columbia University. As a researcher, I strive to understand the causes of depression and anxiety. My research informs my clinical practice, and I bring the best evidence-based treatments to my patients.
