Professional statement

Alba Gomez is a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Certified located in the Bronx, NY. Alba has over 10 years of experience supporting individuals seeking a greater sense of meaning in their lives. Many of Alba’s clients have worked hard to achieve loving relationships and a successful career, yet still find themselves longing for a deeper feeling of fulfillment. Alba helps these clients look inwards to learn more about themselves. Alba also works with clients who would like to improve their anxiety and trauma symptoms by unpacking their patterns and triggers.

Alba teaches clients how to identify the patterns that hold them back, whether those patterns were learned in their childhood or within a codependent relationship. Alba takes an attachment-based perspective and Internal Family Systems approach with clients to help them grow their understanding of their emotional reactions. She incorporates mindfulness techniques so clients can also benefit from grounding, and also guides clients through reflection on what’s most important to them in their lives. Once these values are established, Alba helps clients to integrate these values into their everyday lives so they’re constantly living through what’s meaningful for them.

Alba earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. She has personal experience finding happiness and joy in her life after going through therapy, and enjoys empowering clients to find what makes them feel good about themselves.

Message to clients

I know what it's like to try to heal old wounds, challenge limiting beliefs, combat codependency, break old patterns and navigate anxiety. Growing up as a first generation Latina American with little emotional support and guidance was tough. I knew I had to get an education, work hard and get the job, but after that, I felt empty. I often asked myself why, what was missing? Is this it?

Then I discovered therapy. I made the decision to become curious about my patterns, triggers, emotions, family dynamics and started to heal on a deeper level. I didn't want a band-aid fix. I wanted soul happiness and ease. I was finally able to free myself from my old ways. I discovered my strengths and true resilience, and built more tolerance for the difficult moments in life that will always be there.

I personally know the transformative power of this work and want to share it with you! This is why I chose to be a social worker. I’m here to walk compassionately with you through this process, shine a light onto things you may not have noticed, and help you feel empowered to take your next leap forward. I hope to hear from you soon!
