Professional statement

Alice Forsyth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in anxiety, depression, geriatric diseases, end-of-life transitional care, and loss and grief. She also provides geriatric care consultations with families, and offers home visits for seniors when possible.

While Alice sees adults across the lifespan, she loves working with older adults, families going through life transitions, including having kids going to college, and/or caring for older parents. She also has extensive experience working with women in their 30's who are figuring out what they want out of life, and young professionals who recently moved to the area and are trying to establish community and a support system.

Alice’s goal is to give her clients a space to be heard. This is especially important when working with people, who are navigating isolation, loneliness, and loss of resources. When meeting with new clients, she establishes where they are mentally, physically, and emotionally. She looks at their coping skills and the resources they have available to them, while also digging deep to discover the root causes of their issues.

Alice takes an eclectic approach that looks at the family system and how this impacts their clients’ well-being. She also implements elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to ensure her clients have the tools and coping mechanisms to handle tough moments between sessions.

Alice wants her clients to feel empowered and in control of their lives, no matter their age. Before going into private practice, she was executive director of the local chapter of Rainbows in NJ, a grief and loss organization. She was also a clinical social worker in a large sub-acute and long-term healthcare facility, where she provided direct clinical case management for 135 residents and their families. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Trying to navigate loneliness, stress, anxiety, and depression without support is like climbing Mt. Everest without ropes! Sometimes we just need a compassionate, discerning third-party professional to listen, while we give ourselves the gift of validation and support, so we can speak out loud our worst fears and biggest dreams, and learn how to feel better about ourselves and the world around us. Let me be that person for you, to get you started on your way to better mental health, and see you through your journey. After all, everyone deserves peace of mind.

Client testimonials

"Alice gives me a feeling of “home." She’s easy to speak to and speaking to her leaves me with strength and courage after every session."
- Zencare client April 2021
"Alice has been integral piece of my healing. From day one, I felt heard. From there, I started to feel really comfortable opening up (something that I have never felt with another therapist). She never made me feel bad about backslides or times where I’m not at my best and always says “I will always meet you where you are now,” which encourages me to see the day as a new day where I can do better, rather than feeling down that I failed. With every session I know I am talking to someone who genuinely sees me and cares about me as I am today. Alice also pushes me to explore and conquer what I have yet to become."
- Zencare client October 2019
"Alice is wonderful and so easy to talk to. She has truly helped me with my anxieties and fears."
