Professional statement

Anthony Parente is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Cranston, RI who works with a diverse population and age group of clients with a particular commitment toward serving adolescents, college students, adults, and first-generation individuals. Many of Anthony’s clients come in seeking help for anxiety, depression, relationships, anger management, self-esteem issues, bereavement, and parent-child conflict in adolescence. He also has had success treating people with trauma, attachment issues, ADHD, and life transitions.

When clients first start therapy with Anthony, he creates a safe environment to build a strong therapeutic relationship in order to understand someone's story. Anthony’s approach is anchored in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which helps explore and challenge core thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to challenge patterns that have created barriers to a healthy and satisfying life.

In session, Anthony uses a client centered, collaborative, solution focused approach to treatment implementing practical strategies such as cognitive restructuring, systematic desensitization, narrative therapy, bibliotherapy, and mindfulness techniques. This approach helps clients cope with life stressors, make progress toward a richer, more fulfilling life, and work toward building a more integrated self.

In addition to his experience as a therapist, Anthony’s 11 years as Director of Adult Outpatient Services at The Providence Center has allowed him the opportunity to develop the expertise and dedication to provide clinical supervision to Master’s level clinicians working toward independent licensure.

Message to clients

We all hope for happiness, joy and success in our lives, but sometimes life has a way of undermining our plans. Whether it’s personal loss, struggling with depression, or reaching a crossroad in your life, sometimes it all feels too overwhelming to face alone. Though we live in a culture that encourages independence, I believe there is power in community, and strength in seeking support, for no one person has all the answers.

My approach to therapy is a collaborative process. Your path is unique to you, so when we begin our work I join you on your journey as we explore possibilities and develop solutions together. Your relationship with your therapist is central to the success of your treatment. If you are ready we can work together to make the changes toward a more fulfilling life.
