Professional statement

Brooke Bralove is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Bethesda, MD who specializes in sex therapy and relationship issues, including divorce and separation. She often sees adults in their 30s and 40s who are facing intimacy concerns, depression and anxiety that are impacting their partnerships, perfectionism and low self-esteem, and parenting concerns.  As a Certified Daring Way Facilitator,™ Brooke’s work is heavily informed by Brené Brown’s research on vulnerability, shame, and empathy.

Brooke’s areas of expertise in sex therapy range from mismatched libido concerns (including low desire in women) to LGBTQIA+ topics. Her work is poly and kink-aware, and she also sees couples. She completed a two-year program through the Modern Sex Therapy Institutes.

Brooke also specializes in treating trauma and PTSD from a psychodynamic perspective and provides brief treatment in Accelerated Resolution Therapy,™ which is an evidence-based therapy that works directly to reprogram the way distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.

Brooke has over 20 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. Her office is located in downtown Bethesda, a short walk from the Bethesda Metro, where she looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Please welcome Kecia Wright, LCPC, to Brooke Bralove Psychotherapy! Kecia has IMMEDIATE OPENINGS to see clients virtually in Maryland. Here is a message from Kecia:

I specialize in working with anxiety and stress management, relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, loss and bereavement, depression and anger management. My passion is helping women build insight to proactively improve their lives. Many of my clients are BIPOC women who are highly successful perfectionists and people pleasers who struggle to find work/life balance, deeper purpose, and joy. My integrative clinical approach helps clients develop strategies to manage distressing emotions; identify, challenge and replace automatic negative and distorted thoughts; and modify unhealthy and destructive behaviors and patterns. Collaboratively, we will work toward creating a life that aligns with your core values and purpose.

In addition to providing talk therapy, I am a Basic Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Practitioner. ART is a brief and effective treatment using rapid eye movement and voluntary image replacement to treat trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges.

Clients describe me as warm, empathic, direct, and non-judgmental. My philosophy on counseling is, “Being a therapist doesn’t mean that I get to sit high and look down on my clients. Nor does it mean I have all the answers. What it does mean, however, is that I sit with them eye-level, in whatever space they are in, without judgment, giving them my best until change happens.”
