Professional statement

Caitlin Dwyer is a licensed clinical social worker based in Philadelphia offering online therapy for folks dealing with anxiety and wanting to improve stress management. Additionally, Caitlin specializes in working with both clients who have been affected by chronic illness (either as a patient or a caregiver) and those who are front-line clinicians in healthcare experiencing professional burnout. Clients come to Caitlin for help with their anxiety, depression, grief, wanting to process intense experiences they have had, and to learn how to build resilience and balance.

Caitlin believes in the power of authentic collaboration between client and therapist, and focuses on promoting healing through the therapeutic relationship. In session, she is committed to providing a space where the client feels safe and heard. Caitlin’s priority in session is to listen to a client’s story and support them in processing and reframing life experiences; this promotes the client’s empowerment, resiliency, and self-awareness. In addition, she incorporates practical strategies to help clients manage symptoms in the here and now. Caitlin knows that every client has unique needs and goals which benefit from a unique approach. As a result, Caitlin personalizes her sessions based on what would most benefit the client, drawing from psychodynamic theory, motivational interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Caitlin received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and also completed post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the Beck Institute. Caitlin has worked with the National Organization for Rare Disorders and Nephcure, facilitating support groups for patients and caregivers around the country. In addition to private practice, Caitlin spent a decade working in the healthcare field, which introduced her to the unique challenges posed by chronic illness and with healthcare provider burnout.

Message to clients

I firmly believe that therapy can be the key to unlocking a better understanding of ourselves. This can be an empowering process where you shift from doing life on auto-pilot to embracing intentionality and purpose. As your therapist, I will serve as a guide as you begin to navigate hard experiences, overwhelming feelings, and challenging problems. You don't have to do any of this on your own. Through authentic connection and some humor, we will be partners in figuring out what's getting in the way of you living the life you want. From there, we will explore solutions and strategies that will help you make the changes you want.

I understand that starting therapy can be a bit uncomfortable for some of us! Whatever is bringing you to therapy now, my priority is to provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space where you can process, explore, and grow. I want our time together to be a pause in your routine and a space where you can focus on yourself and your own well-being. Like any meaningful relationship, it’s important to find a therapist that you feel a connection with. I offer a free consultation call to learn a bit more about therapy and what it's like to work with me, and to see if this could be a good fit. Reach out to me via email, call, or Zencare messager to request a call. I am excited to talk with you!
