Professional statement

Catherine is a graduate of New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and a current student in the Psychoanalytic Association of New York's Bridge to Training program, where she is continuing her education in the study of psychoanalysis.

Catherine has worked with adults, children, families, and couples managing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, OCD, and trauma.

Prior to becoming a social worker, Catherine worked for 10 years in various settings, including the restaurant industry, international relations, and higher education.

Catherine tailors treatment to each individual client’s needs, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities and theories. She believes that therapy can be transformative, helping us to understand our stories, and even write new ones.

Catherine requests that each couple and individual client begin by attending sessions in person in her office on 30th Street and Park Avenue. After you have established a strong rapport, you may begin meeting remotely if that is more convenient.

Message to clients

Therapy can be transformative for couples and individuals alike.

If you and your partner are struggling to connect or to stop having the same argument over and over again, couple therapy can help. While some couple therapists focus primarily on hard skills, like effective communication, I believe it is of equal importance to dig deeper, and understand the "baggage" that each partner brings to the relationship. Unresolved trauma and relational issues may be affecting the relationship in ways that you and your partner don't yet recognize.

If you are an individual seeking understanding and improvement in your relationships, challenges with depression or anxiety, substance use, past trauma, or career issues, I will tailor an approach for your unique needs.

Utilizing elements of psychoanalytic and relational theories, CBT, and narrative therapy, I will work with you to tackle the challenges that are holding you back. Not only will we develop a plan of action to manage problems in the short term, but we’ll also inquire deeply about the root of those challenges to set you up for the best long-term success.

I work in a down-to-earth and conversational style, and I approach therapy as a collaborative effort. I came to social work with a deep curiosity about people and the world we live in, and meet each new patient with that same curiosity and interest.
