Professional statement

Christopher Cardin is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who specializes in anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, adjustment issues, loss, grief, and stress management. Christopher began his career in the human service field working with individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. This work proved to be very fulfilling. After receiving his MSW from Fordham University, Christopher began focusing his efforts on providing services for homeless veterans in New York City.

Following a move to Rhode Island, Christopher’s main focus has been providing people with a safe, supportive, non-judgmental and collaborative space to grow and make changes to improve their well-being. Christopher utilizes a psychodynamic, client-centered approach based on several theoretical frameworks with an emphasis on CBT, DBT, and ACT. He maintains a license to independently practice in the states of New York (LCSW) and Rhode Island (LICSW).

At this time, Christopher is only accepting online/teletherapy referrals. All sessions will be conducted remotely through a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing software. Individuals will not be required to download or purchase software to conduct these sessions.

Message to clients

No issue is too big or too small. I am here to listen and support you on your journey. We will work in a nonjudgmental environment where we can focus on your goals and move at your pace. We will work to improve symptoms and gain a better understanding of ourselves. My aim is to help individuals and families learn new skills to help enhance their overall wellbeing. The therapeutic process is a wonderful opportunity for us to grow. I have relocated back to Rhode Island after a lengthy foray in NYC. There is always time to discuss sci-fi novels and hockey games - most importantly I am here to help you.
