Professional statement

Dan Cummings is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) located on Vashon Island in Puget Sound. Because I live on an island most clients prefer telehealth appointments.

My clients range in age from 13 to seniors. I specialize in trauma which means I work with anxiety, depression, self image issues and re-integration of the personality. I use therapy techniques illuminated by trans-personal psychology such as visualization, mindfulness meditation, hypnotherapy (I have an advanced certification), EMDR and talk therapy based on DBT skills.

All of the techniques I use are effective via telehealth. The platforms I use provide effective security and maximum flexibility for the client to create a therapeutic environment in which the client feels safe, comfortable and most importantly, heard.

Message to clients

I encourage you to speak your truth. I work to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic relationship in which we can explore your complete truth together. Once you give your truth a voice we can look at the root causes of maladaptive behaviors and uncomfortable feelings.

Moving around in this very personal space can be facilitated with mindfulness meditation, visualization and hypnotherapy. Barriers can be illuminated, examined and resolved to move even the most uncomfortable memories into the light where they can be examined, resolved and accepted.

Once this work is complete we move on to creating a compelling future vision and look at ways to make this vision a reality.
