Professional statement

Dawn Adeyemi is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with expertise in women's issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, unbalanced moods, relationship issues, nervousness, insecurity, poor boundaries, burn out, indecisiveness, and trauma.

Dawn specializes in working with women 18 - 40 years old on issues related to self-esteem, transitions into adulthood, and developing healthy relationships. Dawn also sees clients who have experienced trauma, such as domestic violence or childhood trauma, and helps them work through the beliefs that have developed as a result of the experience, in conjunction with mindfulness practices, guided muscle relaxations, and acceptance work. With clients who have unmanaged anxiety or depression, Dawn emphasizes the importance of psychoeducation, helping them understand symptoms such as loss of interest, irritability, lack of sleep, restlessness and fatigue, and how they can manage it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills.

Dawn's practice is informed by Solution Focused Therapy, in which she helps clients set goals, understand and accept what has happened in the past, and determine a way to move forward. From there, she uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, giving homework to clients who prefer this to see change manifest more quickly. In her practice, Be Free LLC, she incorporates laughter as a key component of therapy, with the goal of helping her clients be free and happy.

Message to clients

I would like to help you to take better care of you. I enjoy supporting "fixers/rescuers/saviors," high-achievers and empaths; those who tend to focus on the wellness of others more than themselves. I find this can be linked to low self-esteem, insecurity, distrust, or trauma. This pattern can be stressful and impact our wellness. If you fit under such categories, it is likely that you are are often emotionally under supported because you look like you "have it all together." I see you. The truth is, we cannot pour from an empty cup. You are worthy of listening to and addressing your own needs FIRST.

My vision is to help you maintain emotional balance through internal healing, self-care and rest.
