Professional statement

Erica Albert (formerly Gebhart) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focusing on helping individuals through their journey of self-exploration, healing, and self-love. She supports young adults and professionals through their journey to find meaning and direction in work and personal life through self-exploration and self-compassion.

Erica supports individuals through emotionally transformational work, including self-compassion, mind/body techniques for anxiety work, trauma recovery skills, shame resiliency, inner child work, self-acceptance, and forgiveness. An important part of her practice is helping her clients develop a deeper understanding of how their body plays a role in their mental health. Using Body-Centered Psychotherapy, Erica gives her clients the skills to heal wounds at a deeper level.

Erica received her MSW from Boston College and her BA in Psychology from Keene State College.

Message to clients

It takes a ton of courage and bravery to seek therapy. I understand how difficult it could be to focus on yourself and to invite someone else into your world. It also requires self-love to take a step like this to seek the life you want for yourself.

As a therapist, I want you to feel welcome and supported on your journey of self-discovery. I want to offer an open and non-judgmental approach that could allow for profound self-transformation because that’s what I believe in.

Some of the work I provide is compassionate support, giving a safe environment to explore the depth of you. Other parts of the work include healing deeper emotional traumas, using Body-Centered approaches. You don’t need to know a lot about your body to do this work. I like to say that I work with the body to navigate the mind, to gain more compassion and understanding. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the work. Looking forward to helping you on this journey.

Specialties

In-depth body emotional work - Currently in training program for certification in Body Centered Psychotherapy to work through traumas that lead to negative emotional and physical patterns. Uses somatic and energetic healing modalities to help overcome blocks

Inner-child work - You may sometimes still feel like a child and you may have unresolved emotions from childhood. This uses a different approach to dive into your childhood and develop a more compassionate connection to yourself

Trauma and toxic shame - There may be unexplained sadness, pain and anxiety. You may know what you want to do to change but you’re unsure why you can’t. You may be unsure where the shame is coming from and how to change your mindset

Mindfulness and guided imagery work - This allows you to dive deeper into your own experience without using intellect and your thinking mind. Breathing and body techniques are taught to help deal with overwhelming emotions that are hard to feel

Anxiety and depression - Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, fear and phobias, scared of taking steps to better your life, living on autopilot and unsure how to change things, unfocused and distracted with your life and direction

Finding direction in life - Feeling lost, confused and unsure of where to turn. You may not be feeling support from family and friends and need more compassionate feedback. You may be overwhelmed, indecisive and getting pressure from others

Self-compassion and self-acceptance - You may be confused about how you got to this point in your life. We will develop this compassion and acceptance through support and connection. You can learn to better understand yourself and how you think/feel

Academic issues - Adjusting to college; managing developmental and emotional challenges in school; balancing schoolwork and personal life
