I do not have any openings at this time. George Tilley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Wilmington, NC. He is passionate about helping clients find more fulfillment out of their journeys through life, whether that’s adding joy into daily routines or deepening a sense of connection with others. Many of George's clients suffer from mood disorders such as anxiety or depression. George also supports men who would like to better understand their identities and the various roles of masculinity. He provides excellent therapy services for clients of all backgrounds and ages.
George's approach in session with clients draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He teaches clients how to identify negative thought patterns that lead to distress, including cognitive distortions. Clients then learn how to avoid those harmful thoughts and build healthy habits mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally. He also enjoys bringing mindfulness practices into his work with clients. Mindfulness is a tool to grow a client’s awareness of self, which is beneficial when processing through difficult emotions.
George earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. He has experience in diverse mental health settings. His Humanistic practice philosophy means that he sees each client as an individual with unique strengths, strengths which can be harnessed in therapy. He creates a warm, open atmosphere for clients as they take control of their journeys.
