Professional statement

Grief is an emotion often reserved for the passing of someone meaningful to us, but it’s also a normal emotion in life transitions, like job loss, a ruptured relationship, a move, an accident, the death of a pet, illness, trauma or an empty nest.

These experiences may leave you grieving the loss of an idea, an expectation of what your life looked like or where it was going.

Loss has a way of isolating a person from others. You may feel pressure to be doing better than you are, or to be further along an arbitrary timeline. Well-intentioned comments that don’t meet you where you are can leave you feeling even more alone.

A common misconception is thinking that to move forward we just have to jump back into normal life. But the fear of getting stuck in grief can stop us from sitting with it. Allowing keeps us open to the resources we need to learn to cope with and manage our pain. It can feel messy at times, but when we learn to be ok with temporary discomfort, the pressure to be at a certain point in our journey will lessen.

With kindness and understanding paramount, I support clients struggling with emotions that accompany change and loss, managing anxiety and processing trauma. I have extensive experience working with clients who are rebuilding after personal and/or professional burnout. I 'm a Certified EMDR Therapist and I incorporate easy and gentle mindfulness techniques that support clients as they process, turn down the volume on and integrate upsetting and traumatic experiences. I believe each client should move through difficult emotions at their own pace. Together, we'll create a space for your exploration and healing.

Message to clients

Grief, worry and sadness are a part of life. So are happiness, peace and gratitude. Wherever you are, moment to moment, during our sessions you'll have the space to be with your feelings. We’ll explore coping strategies and self-care in a way that works for you. I will always respect your values and therapy goals.

I work with my clients using talk therapy, EMDR therapy, parts work and mindfulness, depending on my client's preferences and goals. I understand you may be unclear about what these terms mean in regards to our work together. Please reach out! I'm always happy to share more about my therapeutic style.

Many clients are seeking balance in life. Taking any step toward ease, no matter how small, can result in feelings of empowerment and peace. I’ll partner with you as you create your path.

A Note to Parents and Caregivers: Making the decision to seek support for your child can bring up feelings. Be kind to yourself as you find your way and reach out to a compassionate and understanding family member, friend or mental health professional. I support and teach parents and caregivers how to nurture and grow these relationships. Children feel efforts to connect and truly benefit from feeling supported.

Office hours: Monday-Friday. Early mornings, daytime and evenings.
