Professional statement

Gioia Garden is a Psychotherapist and Sex Therapist in Denver, Colorado. She identifies as a queer cis woman and specializes in working with LGBTQ+ individuals. She's passionate about working with the queer community and honoring the inherent strengths and opportunities that exist across variations of gender, sexuality, and relationships. Gioia's areas of focus include sexuality, sex, anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, grief & loss, and life-transitions.

Gioia primarily draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She takes a holistic and contextual approach in her work with each individual. She meets clients with compassion, curiosity, and an open-mind.

Sessions can be held in-person or by video to anyone residing in Colorado. Sessions are one hour in length. Gioia offers a free 30-minute phone consultation. If it's not a fit, or if you'd like to consider other options, she'll happily provide you with referrals. The first session is $90 as it's still a way to see if it's the right fit. After that, sessions are $130.

Message to clients

I'll want to know your sources of pain - but I'll also want to know what you value, what has shaped you, where you draw inspiration, your beliefs, and how you feel in your own body. We’ll peel back layers, we'll process distress, and we'll build practical tools to manage the challenges you're facing. If something is no longer serving you, let’s figure out how to change it.

Building self-compassion is often fundamental to the work. My goal is to help clients listen to themselves on a deeper level, trust themselves more, stop fearing what's within, and be able to operate in the world and in their relationships from a more grounded and self-assured space.

Therapy is hard work, and I'll challenge you, but I also believe it can be fun. I enjoy bringing laughter and creativity into the process. My hope is that you will be honest, motivated, and courageous in our work together. In me, you’ll get a warm, down-to-earth therapist. I look forward to connecting!
