Dr. Harry Wells Fogarty is a Licensed Psychoanalyst in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. His areas of expertise encompass existential challenges and chronic illness, as well as life transitions, loss and grief, trauma, substance use, race and cultural identity, and compulsive behaviors.

Dr. Fogarty draws on his background as a pastoral counselor to to relate spiritual practices with Jungian approaches, as he has trained as a Jungian psychoanalyst. He enjoys utilizing this approach to help his clients unpack internal conflicts and implement strategies to overcome them.

Dr. Fogarty has been in private practice as a therapist since 1980, and as a Jungian Analyst since 1988.

He currently serves as a Faculty Member and Supervisor at several Jungian training programs (Jungian Psychoanalytic Association of NY, and Philadelphia Association of Jungian Analysts), as well as a lecturer for various public programs. He also has served as Lecturer in Psychiatry and Religion at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He received his Ph.D. in Religion and Psychiatry from the Union Theological Seminary, and his MDiv and STM in Pastoral Counseling from Woodstock College.

My commitment and privilege as an analyst is to opening up the life story one is living, which has come to a critical juncture, in such as way as to create greater overall personal freedom going into the future. Coming to understand the creative strategies, even if historically afflicted, that both have kept oneself going and are no longer functioning, allows the emergence of a genuine more complete engagement with life.
