Professional statement

Dr. Jacklyn Foley is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialization in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. She has worked mostly with medical populations, helping people to cope with illness, treatment, recovery, and changes in functioning. While treating people with co-occurring mental and medical health needs, Dr. Foley also gained experience working with people both young and old. She values getting to work with adolescents, as well as younger and older adults. During these time periods, people often experience significant life changes, for example, related to autonomy, self-image, and relationships.

Dr. Foley focuses on teaching coping skills to help each person meet his/her/their goals. What this means is up to them! Common focuses of therapy include reducing stress, anxiety, and depressed mood; improving self-esteem and self-worth; and helping people to a better their health, relationships, or work performance. Ultimately, people can start to feel content and able to manage life’s stressors.

Dr. Foley earned her doctorate degree from Syracuse University in 2020. She completed her post-doctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She has been providing psychotherapy for nine years.

Message to clients

I want to help clients wanting skills and support to meet their individual goals. What those goals are is completely up to them! I have specialized training in cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies, both of which are skills-based. I have used these approaches to help patients meet both health and psychiatric goals, e.g.,: increase physical activity after injury, reduce over eating, better compliance to treatments and medications, reduce depressive symptoms, increase engagement in social activities, reduce anxiety symptoms, better self-care, and learn to tolerate uncertainty or other uncomfortable states.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with more than nine years of experience delivering cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies. I specialize in working with patients with co-occurring health and psychiatric conditions (e.g., breast cancer and major depressive disorder). I take a flexible, skill-based approach to my clinical work.

If my training and approach seem like a good fit, I would be more than happy to connect on how to help you reach your goals!
