Professional statement

Jim Stangarone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Psychodramatist located in New York, NY. Jim is passionate about helping clients who have been impacted by narcissistic abuse or childhood sexual abuse. He also specializes in supporting clients through complex PTSD, which typically occurs after long term traumatic experiences. Many of his clients develop damaging symptoms like addictions or eating disorders to cope with their painful memories.

Jim brings the power of performance into therapy sessions through drama therapy approaches. He empowers clients to tell their stories through writing, speaking, or performing. Clients can also engage in meaningful storytelling or drama exercises that grow their confidence, give them a voice, and help them feel energized. Jim is also a Reiki healer and encourages clients to explore spirituality and energy work during their sessions.

Jim strives to help clients realize their self-worth and to feel comfortable in their own bodies, minds, and spirits. He teaches clients how to cope with distress and how to build trusting, healthy relationships with themselves and others. He is certified in Level II Will I Ever Be Good Enough and is a member of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama.

Message to clients

People often confuse the saying, "Your comfort zone", with happiness, but this is not necessarily true. Your comfort zone may simply be what you know, what you're used to and know how to handle. Unfortunately even if someone is unhappy in their comfort zone, the comfort of knowing appear to far outweigh the possibility of stepping into a life you truly, if not secretly, desire.

It takes considerable courage and effort to change, to leave an old comfort zone and create a more life affirming, happier space from which to embrace life.

This effort requires dedication and commitment on your behalf and mine as well. This adventure is a collaborative effort conducted in a safe, confidential space. My approach is very interactive, meaning you and I will work together to explore old wounds that seem to be holding you back, and new possibilities that will lead to a more rewarding sense of feeling present and alive.

You don't have to do this alone.

Thanks for visiting my site and taking the time to read this. I wish you all the success in your journey.
