John Buscher is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington. He is also a national board certified counselor. He works with a wide range of adults struggling with anxiety, excessive worry, depression, career burnout, adult ADHD, grief, relational stressors, life changes, loss of meaning & direction, low self-esteem and trauma (PTSD). John also has advanced certifications from the Gottman Institute and helps couples learn to have better relationships, more productive conflicts, recover from affairs, and what habits helps increase relational satisfaction. He also helps engaged couples prepare for a better and more satisfying union.
John approach draws from a variety of approaches which is tailored to the needs and personality of the client. He draws interventions and understanding from CBT+, Psychoanalytic, Jungian, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure, Gottman, Buddhist, Neurobiology and Attachment theoretical approaches. John believes goals in therapy are defined by the client, not the therapist and that the process is a partnership. John believes in helping a client understand their choices not in term of right and wrong but in terms of better and worse and in terms of outcomes; or what is getting in the way of the client achieving their goals such as perfectionism or a limiting belief or....
John's first priority is to creative a safe space to be seen, heard and understood. As a trauma-informed therapist, John is sensitive to the influence of past experiences on how one makes meaning of present challenges, and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and self-compassion. John believes that anyone that had lived your life would be facing challenges very similar to what you are experiencing today.
