Professional statement

Jorge Fernandez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Hamden, CT, and is a Spanish-speaking, bilingual and bicultural therapist. He specializes in working with couples and families, as well as individuals across the lifespan who are facing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and life transition issues.

In his work with adult clients, Jorge draws from strengths-based therapy types such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT.)  Through these, he is able to help clients increase their toolbox of skills in dealing with daily stressors, and ultimately, build stronger interpersonal relationships.

In his work with children and families, Jorge focuses on the entire family unit, focusing on helping parents become stronger and more effective executives with their children. This may entail fostering healthier communication, identifying ways to set helpful boundaries, and support parents in feeling in charge of difficult parenting decisions with their children.

Jorge cares deeply about working with clients who are motivated and hopeful about enacting positive change in their personal and family lives. He looks forward to working with you.

Message to clients

Thank you for visiting my profile.  If you are looking to work with me, you are ready to roll up your sleeves and be ready for me to help you learn new skills and try new, perhaps scary, things.  Therapy is hard work. It involves going into the outside world and trying new, often scary things, whether that may be with our partners, families, or even ourselves. It's often by taking ourselves out of our comfort zone, and breaking up those same old patterns that are not working for us, that we truly begin to see change.  Working with me means that we are in this together, and I look forward to going on this journey with you.
