Professional statement

Joyce Hennelly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with offices in both the Chicago Loop and Glenview, IL. Joyce’s dynamic practice addresses issues faced in all stages of life. She specializes in working with students who are anxious and feel consumed with worry or suffer panic attacks. Joyce treats women and men who feel a shift in their identity from discontentment with their career, stagnation in their marriage, or from the transition to being an empty nester. Many of the older adults Joyce works with are experiencing anticipatory anxiety as they are navigating health concerns and aging-related challenges that both affect significant relationships in their life. Lastly, Joyce is passionate about working with women who are experiencing the unique challenges surrounding infertility or pregnant women who are preparing for parenthood.

Joyce’s treatment approach is both process and strategy-based and is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness. Not only does she help her clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and reframe their thought patterns, but she educates her clients on their symptoms and why they are occurring. She has extensive experience in the following areas: anxiety, depression, relationships, self esteem, identity development, loss and grief, and infertility counseling.

Joyce loves the clients she gets to work with and is dedicated to helping individuals navigate major life transitions. She is there to support them on their journey and guide them towards a path of self-acceptance. Her Loop office is located near multiple train and bus stops and her Glenview office is just steps from the Metra station.
