Professional statement

Kara Lukowski, owner of Counseling With Ayurveda, LLC, has a holistic mental health practice to assist individuals who are feeling stuck, depressed, anxious, angry or confused. Sometimes it’s due to past traumas – maybe from childhood that haven’t been fully addressed but symptoms show up in daily life. Sometimes its due to painful relationships that bring up anxiety, frustration or depression. Sometimes challenges come from issues of co-dependency and low self-worth, which can take the joy out of life and relationships. Sometimes it’s due to grief and loss, or life-changes that feel impossible to cope with.

Kara works with clients to clear out old narratives that are keeping them stuck, assists them in getting connected to their own body’s wisdom, and supports them in gaining confidence to live by their own rules and values.

What makes Kara’s practice unique, in addition to being a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, is her background working in the field of ayurvedic medicine and yoga. This allows her a broader lens of understanding your challenges and a robust tool kit of therapeutics to support lifestyle changes. She is also a practitioner of Vedic Astrology which, if you are interested, can help you understand deep seated karmas, patterns, and even timings of life cycles. She is also experienced in 12-step programs and supports the inner work that unfolds through the recovery process.

The modalities she uses most often are Mindful and Somatic approaches, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Kara is compassionate, non-judgmental and inclusive. She values the cultural and spiritual differences we all have and is committed to helping you live in an authentic life that is in alignment with your deepest wisdom.

Message to clients

Namaste.

Congratulations on finding yourself in the search for a therapist – that means you are already taking a big step forward on the journey towards more happiness and wholeness.

This life, particularly this modern life, is so full of challenges and stressors that we need help sometimes to remember who we are and what we are doing here. We need support in dealing with our emotions, finding coping skills, working through issues with relationships and clarifying what our own values are that we want to live by. I love supporting and guiding clients into their deepest and wisest parts of themselves, while doing healing and repair along the way to the parts that need attention. I believe we all have the answers within, but they get covered and blocked by life experiences, especially the traumatic ones.

We all have the ability to change, heal and grow, so don’t give up until you find a supportive partner to help you on your path. If you want to see if we might be a good fit to work together, please email me to set up a free 20-minute consultation. I hope to hear from you soon.
