Professional statement

Kimberly Schmidt Bevans (she/her), is a licensed therapist serving the Greater Boston area and Massachusetts via telehealth. She helps high-achieving, deep-feeling women just like you— women who care deeply, work hard, and think, "I have a good life, what do I have to be worried and anxious about?" You think, "Why don't I feel better when I have so much?".

Kim can help you feel more present, joyful and calm. In addition to talking through what's bothering you, Kim uses dance/movement, expressive and mindfulness-based therapy to help you learn how to understand and gain insights from your body and nonverbal movements. These approaches allow you to access deeply held patterns that can’t be reached through talking alone. Giving this attention to the body helps quiet the mind.

Kim is passionate about helping deep-feeling, highly-motivated women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, and low-self esteem. Her uniquely tailored body-centered approach incorporates breath work, mindful movement, grounding exercises, thought reframing, and expressive exploration.

As a licensed, body-focused therapist, Kim can help you achieve a fulfilling life, develop deeper interpersonal connections, and work through difficult emotions like worries, ‘shoulds,’ and shame.

Kim will help you explore what’s currently holding you back from the life you want, help you move forward with your goals, and gain clarity. Throughout the process, Kim will help you tap into your unique strengths, heal the unconscious patterns in your mind and body, and reconnect with yourself and others, so you can become the best version of yourself.

Kim's practice is open to people of any gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic or racial background.

Message to clients

Are you tired of feeling emotionally “all over the place,” exhausted, and like you’ll never be enough no matter how hard you work? Do you intellectualize your problems, try to talk yourself into feeling better? Do you feel overwhelmed and stuck no matter how hard you try to convince yourself that after this next hurdle you'll feel better? You see others looking joyful and free and you want to be that person too! But you still struggle and you keep telling yourself you ‘should’ be able to figure your problems out on your own. Does it surprise you to know you’re not alone?

Our modern, fast-paced lifestyles make it hard to truly pay attention to our feelings, thoughts, and signals from our body. In body-centered therapy, we'll work together to help you reconnect and pay attention to the information your body and mind are giving you. My body-centered and expressive therapeutic approaches go beyond talking, go beyond the endless mind loops that keep you stuck. We’ll incorporate therapy techniques that engage your body, heart and your mind. This approach helps utilize your whole self and move beyond unconscious, deeply held behavior patterns that no longer serve you. Is it new and scary to work this way? Sometime! But it’s also a lot of fun, satisfying and freeing.

Let’s work together to help you live the life you dream!
