Professional statement

Kristyn Kowalski is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in North Attleboro, MA. Kristyn specializes in treating anxiety disorders. She has additional training in working with clients who suffer from anxiety and OCD. Many of her clients’ thoughts interrupt their daily lives. They find themselves ruminating to the point of distraction at work, inability to sleep, or disconnection in their relationships. Their energy gets spent on considering “what if” and they are overly worried about how everyone else perceives them. These preoccupations get in the way of feeling relaxed, so they feel stressed and emotionally exhausted.

Kristyn helps her clients find relief from their overwhelming thoughts. She teaches them relaxation techniques that can be useful in moments of panic. These techniques can include deep breathing or visualization. Kristyn practices Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, so clients get an opportunity to practice these techniques in sessions with Kristyn’s support as they gradually expose themselves to their stressors. Kristyn also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and helps clients examine their thought patterns around their anxiety. Clients learn how to decrease the thought patterns that lead to heightened anxiety and replace them with compassionate, calm thoughts. Kristyn uses Motivational Interviewing to guide clients towards making healthy changes in their lives, limiting the impact that their anxiety has on their daily routines.

Kristyn is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. She has over eight years of experience supporting clients through various life situations, mental health conditions, and treatment goals. She is a calm, kind therapist who strives to support clients as they go along their mental health journey.

Message to clients

Do you find yourself overcome with anxiety, worry, or stress? You may feel stuck in your own head, driven to perform repetitive behaviors, think negative "what-if" thoughts, or replay social situations in your mind, critiquing what you said and overanalyzing how everyone else responded. Are you ready to make a change? If so, allow me to guide you in shifting your mind from being your arch enemy to your powerful ally. My clients and I work together as a team. We will talk about the negative thinking patterns affecting you the most, and strategies to change them so that you can breathe a sigh of relief as you feel their grip on you loosen.

My clients also learn techniques to calm their minds and relax their bodies for immediate and long-term relief. Practicing these tools between sessions ensures that you are developing new healthy habits to support lasting change. By using strategies based on scientific research, we will work together to form new pathways and actually change your brain!

If you are tired of feeling stuck and are ready to take that first step toward feeling better, contact me today. Change starts from within, and I look forward to guiding you in that process.
