Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCLisa Shenk is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, Texas who works with individual adults virtually throughout Texas. She specializes in working with people who have bipolar disorder and/or family members and loved ones of people with bipolar, and people who thought they had their life figured out and then something happened that turned their life upside down and now they're having to figure it out in a new way. Lisa meets clients where they are with a warm and grounded presence that allows them to explore and make sense of their story. Learning to make sense of their story allows them to heal and move forward in their lives trusting in their own resiliency.
Lisa is trained in Interpersonal Neurobiology, which integrates the latest in neuroscience with attachment theory, mindfulness, and self-compassion; Somatic Experiencing, which is a neurobiological approach to healing trauma; and level 1 EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which promotes healing from disturbing life events.
Before transitioning to becoming a psychotherapist, Lisa trained as a singer and actor, She also worked both in the energy industry and healthcare, so she brings a wealth of previous life experience to her role as a therapist. When she works with people in transition, she knows first-hand how challenging it can be. Lisa received her MA in Counseling from St. Edward's University in Austin. She's worked in community care, a thriving group practice, and enjoys being her own boss in her private practice.
