Professional statement

Margot Lamson is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Dupont Circle in the District of Columbia. Margot welcomes working with children and adults of all ages, religious and ethnic backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations. She treats anxiety, depression, and ADHD, as well as trauma and grief and loss. She takes a holistic approach to therapy, which includes talk therapy and mind-body interventions. While she has extensive experience working with families and children, Margot also enjoys working with adults, especially those with a history of acute or complex trauma.

Margot is psychodynamically oriented and her work is rooted in attachment theory and object relations. She also has advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-centered approach that aims to treat symptoms of unresolved trauma and grief. She also has training in EMDR, EFT/"tapping", Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play therapy. Margot spends time getting to know her clients before developing an individualized treatment plan that fits in with their background and goals.

Margot believes everyone deserves the chance to grow and heal. She enjoys working with clients to overcome difficult life transitions and find their resiliency in their journeys.

Before working in private practice, she worked with elementary to high school-aged students in school settings, an outpatient clinic setting, and provided in-home family therapy for high-risk youth and their families.

Margot is licensed in DC and Virginia. She sees clients virtually and at her office near the Dupont Circle subway station. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

We are all survivors of something: our childhood, families, career, or a variety of other experiences. You are the expert in your life. My goal is to help you understand your experience and support you in your journey.

Together we create a space to help you listen to your body, heal from the past, and feel more joy in the present.

If you, or your child, are ready to take that next step in therapy, then I look forward to working with you!
