Professional statement

Dr. Marissa Tunis is a CA and NY licensed clinical psychologist who provides both online and in-person individual, couples, and family therapy. Dr. Tunis frequently helps her clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and panic; uniquely, she specializes in helping clients navigate these and other difficulties within the context of their relationships and family dynamics. Her approach is exploratory and directive, meaning she is available to help you solve your problems and provide instruction when needed.

Dr. Tunis believes in unconditional positive regard of her clients, and she connects with warmth and authenticity. She is dedicated to helping clients realize that they are capable of healing and able to enjoy their lives and relationships again.

A particular interest is working with clients who have worked with other therapists prior but have not yet reached symptom resolution. With a multi-modal and integrative approach, she draws on many treatment modalities to help her clients find true relief and bring joy back to their lives.

With an office located in Westwood, Los Angeles, she is available for sessions on weekdays and evenings – both in office and online. She uses tele-health to work with NY clients. She accepts credit and debit cards and provides Superbills for clients to submit to their insurance for reimbursement.

It is hard finding a therapist who is the right fit – someone who you can trust to have the skills to meet your needs. She encourages you to reach out in order to learn more, and looks forward to hearing from you.

Message to clients

How am I supposed to go on? Everything is so different now. Your relationship is over, and it feels like your

future has ended with it. You’ve spent such a long time identifying yourself as part of a couple that

you’re not even sure who you are as an individual. You found strength in facing challenges as a team,

and without that support, you’re not sure you can make it on your own. The world feels dangerous,

indifferent, and uncaring. You still have so much life to live, and you owe it to your family, friends, and

yourself to keep going. But it feels so impossible. You know there must be some path forward, but you

simply can’t see it.

Don’t give up! I can help you build a roadmap to the life of peace and fulfillment you deserve. I draw on

a host of therapeutic techniques, such as: EMDR, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based and humanistic approaches to identify the root causes of the pain you’re experiencing and heal it at the source. It’s time to move forward

into the bright, rewarding future you deserve.

Build the lasting, healthy partnerships you’ve always wanted. Feel confident in your ability to overcome

any challenge with resiliency. Empower yourself to take control of your life. Don’t let opportunities pass

you by. Reconnect with your loved ones and yourself. You don’t have to do this alone. Call me now for

your free consultation, and get started today!
