Mary Ellen Withers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Nurse in Oak Park, IL. At her private practice, Maye Center LLC, LCSW, therapy is provided to individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing depression, anxiety, anger, frustration or any other emotion as it relates to the adjustment to illness, chronic pain, grief, and/or a major life transition.

Mary Ellen is a systems therapist whose treatment approach is strength-based and client-centered. She also incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Supportive Therapy, when appropriate. She does a geneogram, a graphic representation of a family tree, with every client to help gain a better understanding of their background and past experiences.

When working with clients who are navigating grief and loss, Mary Ellen lets them takes the lead and does not push them. She offers validation and tools to help them manage emotions.

Mary Ellen offers a comfortable and nurturing environment where clients can begin to heal and/or navigate the challenges they are facing. She has over a decade of experience in pediatric hospitals and completed post graduate training in medical family therapy.
