Professional statement

Dr. Maryetta Healy is a Clinical Psychologist in Seattle, WA who works with students and adults across the lifespan. She also works with couples. She specializes in adult ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma, including sexual assault, dissociation, childhood abuse, and/or experiences of a traumatic loss. In addition, she conducts short-term disability evaluations, especially for individuals within the tech industry.

Dr. Healy’s practice is insight-oriented with a focus on utilizing Psychodynamic Therapy and focusing on a client’s attachment style and early relationships. She also has extensive experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment modality that is especially effective for individuals with a history of trauma. When working with couples, Dr. Healy frequently utilizes Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT).

Dr. Healy spends a lot of time on helping her clients gain a better understanding of how and why their brain processes information and responds in certain ways, how it has helped them reach adulthood and cope with challenges. This allows her clients to gain the tools needed to combat negative thoughts or overcome situations that trigger their symptoms. She also frequently incorporates mindfulness practices to assist clients in becoming more aware of their physiological response and gain a better understanding of the mind-body connection.

Dr. Healy helps her clients rediscover their strengths and regain control of their life. Before starting her private practice, she worked at Wellspring Counseling for 15 years. Prior to that, she spent time working in community mental health and inpatient settings. Her office is located in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

As a therapist I know that life can often present you with problems that challenge your ability to successfully cope with certain situations on your own. You may either feel flooded by emotional responses or you may find yourself shutting down, turning off the system which appears to be disrupting your life. The problem with shutting down in an attempt to escape the feelings, is that the result can be isolation which then leads to increased sadness, stressed relationships, and depression. I would like to be able to offer you a safe, protected place to talk about yourself and your struggles so that change can happen through a gentle, accepting process that will allow you to gain knowledge about yourself and allow you to regain your footing through self-acceptance.
