Michaela ("Chaela") Turnbull is a New York based psychotherapist and social worker. She specializes in working with emerging adults and adults of all ages and genders. Chaela is a trauma informed, sex-positive provider with extensive training in behavioral therapies, which she integrates flexibly to support each client’s individualized goals and needs. In session, Chaela's style is genuine and non-judgmental, and she strives to approach all clinical concerns from a place of curiosity and compassion.
Chaela has experience working in a variety of different clinical environments including sexual and reproductive health care, college mental health, intensive outpatient programming for eating disorders, and group practice settings. She has particular experience working with women, LGBTQIA+ folks, college and graduate students, artists and creators, as well as survivors of trauma. Chaela's approach is client-centered and anti-racist. She is a fat-positive provider and approaches eating disorders and body image concerns from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework.
