Professional statement

Mike Morde, a licensed mental health counselor, nationally certified counselor, and addictions therapist, offers in-person and telehealth sessions to clients throughout New York State.

Since 2011, Mike's career in behavioral health has spanned group homes, a VA medical center, and local outpatient mental health and chemical dependency clinics. His contributions have earned him recognition and awards, and he currently holds positions on numerous mental health boards and committees at both local and state levels. In 2022, he co-founded a Western New York affiliate group for the Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science.

Mike's therapeutic approach is rooted in a person-centered and trauma-informed perspective, creatively integrating mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches.

Message to clients

My practice operates under the motto, “Less Talking, More Doing.”

Therapy isn’t meant to be a lifelong commitment. To enhance your life and steer it towards a more meaningful existence that aligns with your true self, you need to actively participate in our therapy. My clients don’t come to me to endlessly discuss past traumas or seek magical resolutions to their mental health and addiction issues. Instead, we collaborate using practical exercises and techniques that are implemented both during and outside our sessions. Clients engage in mindfulness exercises, readings, podcasts, walking meditations, videos, and more! As the saying goes, “I can teach you to play an instrument, but without practice between lessons, progress will be limited.”

I'm affiliated with numerous insurance networks and can furnish a superbill for clients outside of these networks. However, many prefer to sidestep insurance complexities and opt for out-of-pocket payments. Let's choose the approach that suits you best and get started.

Contact me today. I assure you that I’ll respond within two business days.
