Professional statement

Nanette Gonzalez is a Spanish speaking, New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Arizona Licensed Professional Counselor. Practicing virtually, my goal is to provide a safe environment where we can discuss concerns individuals, couples or families may be encountering.

Nanette works with adolescents and adults, specializing with depression, anxiety, anger and trauma. She works with individuals, couples and families collaborating to learn and understand themselves and functioning in the world they live in.

Nanette, as a seasoned therapist, has worked with different not for profit organizations and has been in private practice, for the last five years, working towards guiding individuals and families to manage their everyday lives. Whether working with students through the challenges of middle school or high school, or understanding family dynamics, or adults in their work related stressors, relationships or family concerns, or anyone effected by their traumatic experiences, gaining empowerment and trust for healthier movement in their life, is what many have shared is important to them.

Nanette focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help understand the connection between our thoughts, feelings and the impact on our behavior. She uses additional therapeutic approaches to assist in creating a stronger sense of self and, in turn, others, incorporating the significance of utilizing not only healthy cognitive coping tools but mindfulness tools, as well. Nanette aims to create a safe and supportive environment where her clients can express privately and personally.

Message to clients

I believe individuals possess the tools to enhance their lives. Through our therapeutic relationship, I want to collaborate, to build the support needed and understanding, to enhance those tools. I commit to creating a safe and peaceful environment where we can begin to identify and challenge and implement healthier alternatives for an over all well-being.

In speaking Spanish, I have been able to work with individuals, couples, and families where language presented as an obstacle. To provide understanding and learning, in your native language, is impactful. I have worked to ensure those who have exhausted themselves in finding someone to safely share their experiences with in their native language, no longer have to.

My approach is to be compassionate, without judgment, listen and collaborate. I believe change is possible and if you commit, I will commit with you. I understand the fear of starting something new. The process of change can help us to create an environment in a way we had a hard time imagining on our own. We can take this journey together, if you decide.
