Professional statement

Niamh Rawlins is a professional counselor based in Nashville, TN, who works with individuals, families, and couples. Many of her clients are those experiencing challenges with life transitions such as graduating, retiring from sport, career changes, or having a new child. Niamh recognizes these transitions can be disorienting, anxiety-producing, and lead to self-doubt. She is committed to helping clients acclimate and thrive during seasons of transition. Niamh also frequently works with LGBTQ+ individuals. She is sensitive to the unique challenges marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ individuals, face. Many of her clients experience tension between their authentic selves and the societal pressures and expectations their environments have placed upon them. Her clients are often trying to integrate, learn, and love their identity in an unforgiving world.

Niamh utilize’s relational and attachment evidence-based modalities including: existential; internal family systems (IFS); cognitive behavioral; solution-focused, and client-centered play therapy to optimally work towards her client’s specific goals. Niamh seeks to develop client coping skills, before exploring the systems the client lives within and how the various parts of the client’s identity operate. Niamh works to help clients understand who they are in the world, and help them move towards a more authentic and integrated way of being.

Niamh offers in-person and telehealth sessions to residents of Tennessee to make therapy as accessible to clients as possible.

Message to clients

Life is hard. Period. Life is also beautiful, and messy, and all the things in between. Whether you are dealing with relational issues, identity, grief, anxiety, trauma, or transitioning into a new phase of life, sometimes life demands more of us than we know how to give. If this is where you are today, you are not alone, and I commend your courage for seeking help. Where you are at today is not where you need to remain.

I commit to meeting you where you are at. I pledge to challenge you to learn more of yourself in the world, to accept you as you are, to laugh with you, to seek justice with you, to be authentic with you, and to help you find meaning, solutions, and next steps in your life and relationships. I will not ask you to change who you are but I will challenge you to become a a more complete version of yourself.
