Dr. Nicole Issa is the founder and director of PVD Psychological Associates, a thriving group psychotherapy practice in RI. In addition, she maintains her NY practice, the Center for Dynamic and Behavioral Therapy, and previously co-founded a group practice in Boston. Dr. Issa’s personal experiences as an entrepreneur and manager have helped her to develop unique insight into the struggles faced by individuals in high pressure careers and management positions.
Dr. Issa provides individual therapy to older adolescents, college students, and adults. Her areas of specialization and interest include: imposter syndrome, burnout, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, college student mental health, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals.
Dr. Issa meets clients where they are and focuses on the relationship as the core, and most important aspect, of therapy. She often utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She also checks in with her clients often to ensure they feel like they are on their way towards meeting their goals. She wants clients to not only process their emotions and experiences but also make behavioral changes that allow them to ultimately live the life they want.
Dr. Issa is deeply passionate about the work she does and wants everyone to have a safe space where they feel comfortable and cared for. She is currently the treasurer of the Rhode Island Psychological Association’s Board. She also regularly contributes to pieces in the media and has been featured on Self, HuffPost, Bustle, Brit + Co, New England Psychologist, Elite Daily, and ABC6.
