Professional statement

Dr. Patricia Bresky is a psychologist and life coach. She works remotely work with clients in Rhode Island. Most of her clients have demanding schedules and appreciate the flexibility and convenience of doing sessions from home or work. Dr. Bresky works with clients of different ethnicities, gender identities, ages (early adult-elderly), and cultures. Most of her clients come to therapy for help with difficulties in relationships, work/school, and self-esteem. They often struggle with anxiety, depression, shame, low self-esteem, and loss. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Bresky serves as clinical faculty at Brown University in the Department of Psychiatry, where she teaches psychotherapy to psychiatrists in training. .

Dr. Bresky uses a wide range of therapy modalities in working with clients, including psychodynamic, client-centered, self-compassion, and humanistic psychotherapy. She helps clients become aware of and have self-compassion for the negative thoughts and behaviors that can lead to anxiety, depression, and lack of confidence. Dr. Bresky helps clients to realize that these critical notions and behaviors likely served a purpose early on. Holding onto them, however, holds clients back from achieving their goals and enjoying healthy relationships. Dr. Bresky helps clients to soften harsh judgments of themselves and believe they deserve respect from others. As a result, they grow more positive in the moment and hopeful for the future.

Dr. Bresky earned her PhD from the Union Institute. She has a certification in advanced psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Boston

Psychoanalytic Institute and professional life-coaching from the International Coaching Federation. With over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Dr. Bresky provides the trust and empathy that promotes clients' growth and healing. Her approach is interactive, down-to-earth and warm. She is real and engaged in a way that clients know they too can be their real selves.

Message to clients

Clients come into therapy when they've done all they can to figure things out on their own but are still stuck and hurting. They may feel overwhelmed or helpless by the time they reach out for help. I know it's not easy to consider bringing your intimate struggles to a stranger, especially when you're already vulnerable.

So, how do i put you at ease? Part of it is that I'm with you from the beginning- listening, putting things together, asking questions to get a deeper sense of who you are and how you're struggling. I love to listen to clients' stories, not just the facts but the way those fact hit them. I can pretty safely say that you will experience me as genuinely interested in you and genuinely genuine from the start.

I believe that human beings are like flowers. With fertile soil and enough water and sunlight, seeds can grow the way they're meant to- into a healthy, thriving flower. Without nurturing and attention along the way, though,

they don't grow to their full capacity. That's where I come in. My goal is to help you be the best version of yourself- free to make choices in your life and feeling good in your own skin. I welcome your contact.
