Professional statement

Rob aims to help people make the changes they want to see, by identifying the things they are already good at or interested in and using them to make progress. He will help you look at how those strengths can be used to get more control in life and find emotional balance.

In clinical language, Rob's practice could be described as utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through an Attachment lens with a Rogerian approach. He uses practical mindfulness to help bring awareness to ourselves, the world around us, and how we interact with that world. Rob works to create a relaxed and accepting environment where you can explore those uncomfortable and vulnerable areas that can throw us off balance. Humor and education play an integral role in making this happen.

An important aspect of Rob's clinical approach comes from his health and balance. Rob strongly believes that one should practice what they preach, with humility, and never ask someone to do something they wouldn’t be willing to do. Rob lived in a residential Buddhist meditation house for 6 years and continues to use the concepts and yoga/meditation practices to maintain his wellness. These days that includes healthy doses of family, nature, and guitar time. Each person must find their balance and routines that work for them and their lifestyles. Rob will work to help you find that for yourself.

Client testimonials

"We are talking tomorrow. He reached out very promptly and was very thoughtful in email."
- Zencare client January 2023
"I’ve always struggled with feeling like a therapist was authentic. I’m hyper-vigilant, and suffer from CPTSD, so frankly, every one seems like a liar or frightening to me. I’ve seen countless therapists and I’ve only felt secure with only two, one of them being Rob. Just talking to him over the phone to see if he could help, I knew I just had to see him. He truly extends himself and shows he cares. He’s educated and relatable, and has a very warm and safe disposition. He provides useful resources and has a genuine enthusiasm about spurring change. You don’t just talk at Rob, you talk with him. I couldn’t recommend him enough."
