Professional statement

Robert Coltharp is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate located in Dallas TX. Robert provides effective support for individuals who feel like they aren't good enough. Many of Robert's clients undermine their own achievements and engage in damaging self-talk. They tell themselves that they aren’t capable of having loving, healthy relationships, or that they will never get a promotion. This can lead to depression and lack of motivation to show up in their own lives. It can also lead to relationship issues including conflicts with loved ones, toxic relationships, and more.

Robert’s approach to therapy focuses on the harmful thought patterns that can lead to self-doubt and low self-worth. He practices Existential Counseling to teach clients how to create meaning and purpose in their lives. Robert is a strengths-based, trauma-informed therapist, so he not only identifies and appreciates clients’ innate strengths and resilience, but he also strives to create a safe, secure space where clients of all identities feel comfortable talking about their mental health.

Robert earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Methodist University. He enjoys working with the LGBTQ community and helps all clients reach their mental health goals. He is a third-year PhD Counseling Education student committed to pursuing empirical education studies designed to help individuals foster long-lasting, meaningful relationships.

Message to clients

When I meet a client for the first time, I always tell them how brave and courageous they are for coming to counseling.

Therapy is the one place in the entire world where you can be your true, authentic self without worrying about being judged or shamed for expressing yourself. Every person deserves to grow and develop into the ideal versions of themselves.

Time and time again I have worked with clients who do not believe that things will ever get better, that their situation is doomed and all hope is lost.

I get it. I've been there before. I know what it's like to always feel like nothing will ever change, that you're doomed to spend the rest of eternity alone in misery.

Thankfully, counseling is designed to help things get better.

What might currently seem like an unsolvable situation may eventually become a hurdle that can be overcome.

I want you to know that I think you have more strength than you probably give yourself credit for, and I believe that I can help you on your road to recovery.

I will do everything within my power to make setting up an appointment as easy and care-free as possible.

I also offer free 15-minute consultation services to all new clients interested in working with me.

Let's get started.

I can't wait to see the amazing person that you are going to become.
