Professional statement

Sara Issa is a Marriage and Family Therapist providing therapeutic services to individuals and couples in Coral Gables, FL. Sara specializes in helping clients move past their fears and take the next step towards their goals. Many of Sara’s clients find themselves feeling more and more hopeless, overwhelmed with stress in the face of change. She works with these clients to develop an awareness and understanding of this fear reaction, empowering them to grow towards wellness. She also works with clients who suffer from negative core beliefs that contribute to anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment styles and communication.

In session with Sara, clients learn more about their thoughts and behaviors as well as the role that their thoughts and behaviors play with their emotions. Sara uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Gotten Couples Therapy to teach clients about harmful thought patterns and how to build better coping and communication skills to avoid them. She is a strengths-based therapist, which means that she believes wholeheartedly that each client has unique strengths that they bring into session. Together, Sara and her clients leverage these strengths to find purpose by transforming fear into goals that will encourage growth.

Sara earned her degree from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Sara is committed to work with clients to understand their unique life experiences that have led them to who they are and how they can grow.

Message to clients

Hello and welcome! I understand the decision to go to therapy can be overwhelming, yet here you are..taking the first step. My approach is client centered and I will meet you where you are in a nonjudgmental and safe space. You are in complete control of your journey as you explore your emotional growth.

Our work together will be based on what you feel you need to address. My approach is fluid and flexible, so in the process of exploration if you feel your priorities change we can redirect to meet those needs. My goal as your therapist is to ensure you are in control of your journey every step of the way. I want you to feel empowered to make the changes you feel are necessary to live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. Whether it be to process trauma, increase self-esteem, manage anxiety and panic triggers, increase communication skills, or identify and manage negative relationship patterns or attachment, we will work through it.

The next step is up to you. I recognize it is difficult, however, the best investment to make in life is in yourself and overall well-being. Best of luck on your journey!
