Sarah Mermin is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Newport, Rhode Island with expertise in helping clients mindfully navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress. Drawing from her experiences at a rape crisis/domestic violence center, she has a particular specialty in helping clients heal from relational, physical, and sexual trauma. She takes pride in building a safe space for clients to process their trauma at a comfortable pace and move forward with greater confidence into the future.
Additionally, Sarah enjoys supporting clients with anxiety and depression. She takes special care in helping her clients process difficult emotions, examine self-limiting patterns of thoughts and behaviors, and experiment with healthier coping mechanisms. She uses a blend of holistic, body-oriented approaches and mindfulness practices to help clients stay grounded in the present moment. Bringing over 20 years of experience as a yoga teacher, she is also able to offer therapeutic yoga to those interested in trying. In addition, she utilizes a mix of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Sarah enjoys supporting young adults, adults, and couples in her private practice. She is passionate about developing a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, gently guiding them through emotional challenges, and building their sense of self-compassion.
