Sarah Wignall is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the greater Providence area. As a trained “systems thinker”, Sarah considers not just the individual (or family/couple) seeking support, but also how their larger system both past and present affect current daily life. Prior to private practice, Sarah worked in school behavioral programs, community-based parenting programs, art therapy, and spiritual-based youth programs. Many of Sarah’s clients come in when life changes or loss have increased anxiety, depression, stress, or conflict within the client’s “system”. Sarah is particularly passionate about serving women experiencing infertility, loss, or challenges related to parenting. Sarah also finds creative solutions to help families restore harmony during stages of life transitions; she is effective in supporting both teens and adults who are experiencing significant changes.
Sarah is trained in CBT, focusing on the adaptability of the brain in order to have a new experience with a previously anxiety-provoking situation. Sarah utilizes Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing to help clients access their own unique, creative solutions. In session, Sarah focuses on the client’s voice, experience, and barriers to personal contentment. This approach enables clients to be an active part of treatment, tapping in to skills, solutions, and hope that may be “out of reach” due to anxiety, depression, or conflict. Sarah's style is warm, curious, and respectful; she is dedicated to providing a relationship that is safe, empathic, and promotes both growth and healing.
