Professional statement

Dr. Scott Kellogg is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Flatiron, Manhattan. He is a particularly good match for patients seeking a psychotherapy experience that is focused, active, and intense – especially those who have not responded to other therapies. Dr. Kellogg has been centrally concerned with Chairwork and other experiential and existential approaches as he has found these to be strikingly creative and powerful methods for helping those wrestling with issues of fear and courage, past histories of trauma and mistreatment, inner conflicts, and deeply painful feelings.

Dr. Kellogg is also a harm reduction therapist who enjoys working with those who seek to moderate or make gradual changes in their drug and alcohol use. He sees problematic substance use as a complex experience that is often intertwined with an underlying experience of darkness and pain.

Trained in Gestalt therapy and Voice Dialogue and certified as a schema therapist, Dr. Kellogg is the current director of the Transformational Chairwork Psychotherapy Project. He received in PhD in clinical psychology from the City University of New York.

Dr. Kellogg is currently seeing patients both remotely and in person.

Message to clients

I believe that I am a good match for patients seeking a psychotherapy experience that is focused, active, and intense. It can be particularly helpful for those wrestling with: (1) Interpersonal Strife – loss, grief, mistreatment, and difficult relationships; (2) Internal Difficulties – self-criticism, depression, impulsivity, and fear; (3) The Challenges of the Heroic Life – making decisions, being assertive, acting with courage, and creating the future; and (4) Addictions – problematic relationships with drugs and alcohol. I may also be of service to those who found their previous therapy experiences to be disappointing or ineffective.
