Professional statement

Siobhan Masterson is a licensed clinical social worker and EMDR certified psychotherapist serving Fairfield County CT, Westchester County, and Rockland County with an office in downtown Stamford and a virtual office servicing CT and NY. She specializes in helping people heal from anxiety, stress related problems, PTSD and complex trauma, and also enjoys supporting people in reaching their professional and personal aspirations. Siobhan provides culturally and LGBTQ+ sensitive care and she strives to integrate a commitment to repair systemic injustice into her practice.

Siobhan sees her practice as guided by four pillars: first, her belief in the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship; second, her training in many models and interventions over the last three decades; third, her certification as a teacher in stress management and resiliency practices; and fourth, importantly, her deep reliance on EMDR therapy as a transformational and effective psychotherapy. Siobhan has practiced for more than 30 years and has extensive experience serving children, adolescents and their parents as well as adults. Her expertise in expressive therapies such as sand tray therapy contributes to her ability to meet clients where they are, focusing on a holistic approach that integrates brain, body, and spirit into her clinical practice.

Siobhan sees primarily adults and teens, but often serves children and their parents as well. She sees clients in her Stamford office, which includes a room dedicated to sand tray therapy. She also hosts stress management and resiliency classes in a lovely conference room next to her office that allows for Zoom attendance as well. She continues to work virtually with people throughout NY and CT.

Message to clients

If you're reading this, you might be trying to find just the right person to help you heal and thrive. I urge you to be selective and to find the person with whom you feel connected and seen, but also someone you think has the skills, knowledge and intuition to help you grow into your full potential.

I have more than 30 years of wide reaching experience as a therapist. I strive to always be learning new approaches to offer you the best support possible. I see therapy as a collaboration, and after carefully listening to you and your needs, we develop a plan together to set a course toward your future. Frankly, that's why I am an EMDR psychotherapist -- it is so often transformational and more effective than anything else I've witnessed. But I also respond to who you are and what inspires and helps you to express yourself and grow and create that plan together.

At certain times in our lives, we need help to overcome challenges that still get in our way -- everything from our own childhood experiences and pain, life's current adversities, challenges we didn't plan for with our family or children, or just needing a safe space to discover our own needs and aspirations. I aspire to provide that to and welcome a call from you to talk about your needs.
