Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, LICSW Specialties • Insurance & Fees • LocationsSonia Gomes is a licensed clinical social worker based in Pawtucket and Providence, RI. Sonia is dedicated to guiding individuals on their journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. Sonia is a practitioner trained in multiple therapeutic theories, all united by a central focus: helping individuals reconnect with their authentic selves. Sonia's approach is client-centered and collaborative, meeting each individual exactly where they are in their unique journey.
In over a decade of practicing, I've discovered the effectiveness of therapy lies in providing individuals with the necessary time and secure environment to delve into their inner workings and interpersonal connections. Studies indicate that by addressing early attachment wounds, we can reshape detrimental self-perceptions and emotions. Perhaps you're caught in cycles of behavior that evoke feelings of inadequacy or guilt. Maybe you feel stagnant, unheard, or struggle to express your needs. Here, you'll find a supportive, inclusive setting where you can connect, feel truly seen, and explore without judgment.
My mission is to create a supportive and nurturing space where clients can explore, heal, and grow, ultimately achieving greater clarity, fulfillment, and connection in their lives. If you're ready to embark on a transformative journey towards authenticity and self-actualization,I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
I offer sessions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
My approach is rooted in theories and evidence based practices that help explain how behaviors, thoughts, and emotions are interconnected.
I am certified in CSRT (Core Self Reclamation Therapy), AEDP, level 1, trained in EMDR, Certified in Core Energetics a Somatic therapy, trained in Mindfulness, Mindfulness Self Compassion, and subsequent trainings in IFS (Internal Family Systems), Poly Vagal theory, Ego based theories, MBCT.

"I would most heartily recommend Sonia for working in Zencare. Sonia is an exceptional therapist with many years of working with a wide variety of populations- including age, gender, health status, sexual orientation, and non-English speaking individuals. Sonia is dedicated to her own internal work, so as not to interfere with her client’s development, which is a gift to her clients. Sonia is also interested in a variety of modalities, holistic in nature, which helps her bring a bigger toolbox to her clients. Sonia is, simply, a very good therapist, dedicated to her craft, willing to grow in service to her clients and her own awareness."
- Joanna Meriwether, MSW • June 2017"I have found Sonia to be fearless and completely authentic in her own work. I believe a therapist can only take a client as far as she/he is willing to go. Sonia does not shy away from the “tough stuff” and is a compassionate advocate."
- Kathleen Welcome, fellow student • June 2017"Sonia provides therapy that is clinically sound, highly ethical, and culturally competent."
- Laurice Girouard, LICSW • February 2017
