She/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSWSusan “Sue” Sugar is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker of 25+ years working with adults across the state of Arizona, providing innovative therapies for relief and recovery of the often debilitating effects of trauma. With an expansive view of trauma, Sue recognizes that trauma experiences, whether the Big-T trauma that is most obvious or the Little-t trauma that is more subtle but just as devastating, she is committed to rooting out the causes and working to lessen their impact. She is dedicated to creating safe and supportive space as she walks individuals through their recovery journey.
Sue’s approach is rooted in the recognized and accepted understanding that trauma, whether experienced in childhood or adulthood, can be “frozen” in the brain and central nervous system and, often unconsciously, wreaking havoc in present life. Sue uses several evidence-based therapies to assist in processing and clearing the impact of trauma and allowing the true self to emerge. Her primary modalities include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), it’s adjunct, Flash Technique, inner system work often to repair attachment breeches, and visualization techniques to begin to build the future. And, she is not averse to using humor to lighten the journey.
Sue has often been described as down-to-earth and easy to talk with . She is naturally empathic and intuitive and clients have appreciated the safe space that she is able to create for them to reveal their most true and vulnerable selves…and to explore and reveal their best self. She revels in their personal growth and discovery…be sure to ask her about the “chair dance.”
