Professional statement

Tia Jimenez is a trauma-informed Licensed Psychotherapist in New York, Georiga & Florida. She is passionate about helping those who feel a major lack of fulfillment in their lives and hope to figure out how to infuse joy into their daily lives. She works with individuals seeking to rewrite their past narratives and create a deeper understanding of unconscious factors that affect their relationships and thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. Tia specializes in trauma, anxiety, identity, sexuality, codependency, and family-of-origin relationships. Each can be unique on their own or intertwined together as trauma (intergenerational, etc.) can have an effect on the way we show up in relationships and with the Self.

Tia’s approach is one of depth psychotherapy, working from a psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and object relations framework.. An approach that enables clients to develop insight and understanding in order to make lasting changes, that will help guide you gently into seeing parts of yourself that are ready to be seen. She is also trained in additional therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy & CBT-E, dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness. Grounding techniques are taught and cultivated in session. Tia encourages clients to explore and trust their emotional needs to gain needed insight. Tia empowers her clients to live authentic, full lives and helps them find the tools to do so.

Tia earned her Master’s degree in mental health counseling and clinical training from Long Island University & New York University and is a Psychoanalytic Candidate at the CMPS in NYC. As a veteran of the Armed Forces, Tia supports those who have experienced extreme stress in their personal lives or in their careers. She provides a safe, comfortable space for clients to talk about their feelings and take charge of their lives.

Message to clients

At our first visit, we’ll discuss your present and past in great detail, including the concerns that prompted you to seek treatment. Based on our conversation, I will offer initial impressions and recommendations for our work together. Together, we will gain a deeper understanding of the ways your mind works, cultivate better coping strategies, recognize areas in your life where you can begin to take back control from habitual behaviors, and start you on a path to better health and functioning, all while exploring the deeper, less conscious influences on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You’ll also receive homework, morning practices, and tools to use between sessions to deepen the work and to appease the parts of us that want the process to feel tangible and productive.
