Professional statement

Dr. Tyler Jansen welcomes a wide variety of clients ranging from teens to late adulthood. Many people are struggling with difficult emotions, stress, relationship difficulties, addictions, depression, anxiety, and many other difficult situations. In addition to addressing specific problems, he also enjoys working with people who just have a sense that maybe something is just a little off and are hoping for a few ideas or tools to feel better.

Tyler has a very casual approach and likes for sessions to feel as comfortable and natural as possible. He draws from many different kinds of therapy and tries to work with you to find a perspective or approach that is going to be the best fit possible. He taught in his former graduate program on different models of therapy, and is familiar with many different approaches, and if one model is a poor fit, he is always happy to shift gears and try another approach.

Tyler sees people both in person in his Vancouver office, or remotely across the state of Washington. He offers sliding scale payment options to help people afford to get the care they may need, and wants to remove as many barriers as possible, making it easy to get started with little more than a phone call or an email. He offers free consultations to help people decide whether this is the right fit, and personally answers the phone (or returns your call as soon as possible!) and is always eager to talk with you!

Message to clients

I am often told that I’m unlike other therapists that people have seen, and I’m never sure whether to take that as a good thing; but it may mean that if you have had bad experiences in the past, or are simply looking for something different, I may be the right fit. My approach is very down-to-earth and approachable, and I want to make the process as easy as I can for people.

I teach ideas and principles that have been life-changing for me, and strategize with you to find the best way to implement those ideas for yourself. I also try to create an atmosphere where you can let your guard down and simply be yourself, whatever that looks like. In this line of work I wear many hats: sometimes I am a teacher, other times a cheerleader, other times a trainer, and still other times a friend. At all times I strive to be supportive and encouraging, and most of all accepting.

Get in touch and let’s see if I can help you meet your goals!
