Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Description

The aim of this group is to maximize human potential for a rich, full, and meaningful life.

We do this by:

- Teaching you psychological skills to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings– in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you.

- Helping you to clarify what is important and meaningful to you – i.e. your values – then use that knowledge to guide, inspire, and motivate you to change your life for the better.

The group will cover:

- The art of mindfulness and being present in this moment

- Observing yourself in a truly kind and compassionate way

- Working out what is truly important to you, and what you most value

- Taking action toward your most important goals

- Skills to enable you to hold stress and other problems more lightly

Group Therapist

*Accepting New Clients* Dr. Jennifer Brownstein is a Massachusetts Licensed Psychologist who is currently providing secure online video sessions. She is committed to working collaboratively with you to create a safe space so that you can embrace your vulnerabilities, foster strengths and increase resilience. She works with a variety of mental health concerns including but not limited to anxiety, depression, OCD, self-development, relationship difficulties, divorce and unresolved caregiver relationships. Rather than solely focusing on a diagnosis, she believes that it is important to recognize the whole person, which includes all areas of your well-being. Clients who benefit the most from her services tend to be open and enthusiastic about therapy and want to exercise their reflective capacity to better understand their interpersonal needs and difficulties.

While she considers herself an integrative therapist, she specializes in acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), self compassion and positive psychology. Dr. Jen helps individuals increase their well-being through building their existing internal self care resources, such as self-kindness, core values and character strengths. Her authentic leadership, warmth, and curiosity foster a nurturing safe space for individual and group therapy. She is renowned for her “Self Care Group Workshop”, a resiliency curriculum. She fosters a cohesive group to help group members discover their internal resources and co-create their own self care toolbox.

Dr. Jen has worked for the past several years as a psychologist at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Jen pursued clinical training in a variety of hospital, community, and private practice settings, including McLean Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts Pain Center, Umass Lowell, and Providence College. With her diverse clinical experience and authentic and compassionate nature, Dr. Jen is passionate about helping adults connect with their values and ignite their curiosity to increase their sense of well-being.
